Andrews First customers: Possible change in taste of water

Customers in the Andrews First water system may notice a change in the taste of their water over the next few days. The change is due to a temporary addition of chlorine to the system.

The addition of chlorine is necessitated because some water samples from this system tested positive for total coliform. Coliforms are bacteria that are naturally present in the environment, and although they are not harmful themselves, they are used as an indicator that waterborne pathogens may be present. For this reason, we are chlorinating the water system out of an abundance of caution. Protecting our customers’ health and safety is our highest priority.

We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve this situation as quickly as possible.
