Low Income Household Water Assistance Program

For a limited time, customers who meet maximum income limits may be able to receive financial assistance from the Washington State Department of Commerce’s Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) to help pay their water bills. LIHWAP is a federally funded program that offers a one-time benefit of up to $2,500 for past-due bills accrued during any time frame.

Am I eligible?

Household and income eligibility are identical to those for Washington’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). See the LIHEAP eligibility guidelines (PDF) for more information.

How do I apply?

There is an interactive map on the Washington State Department of Commerce web site to help you locate the local agency to apply for benefits.
