What are my bill payment options?

Washington Water Service understands the need to provide convenient, cost-effective payment methods and services for our customers. We have a number of payment options available to our customers for paying your monthly invoice.

Option One: Online Payment Portal

Customers who sign up for our online payment portal can:
  • View and print bills
  • See payment details, including date and amount
  • Pay with Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and Visa or MasterCard debit with no fee
  • Set up recurring payments
  • Make payments at any time
  • And more!
Most Washington Water customers can reach the portal by visiting wawater.firstbilling.com. East Pierce customers (formerly Rainier View Water customers) should visit www.xpressbillpay.com.

Option Two: Auto-Pay/EFT

Auto-Pay/EFT is the option that we recommend. It allows us to debit your payment from a checking or savings account. With Auto-Pay, your payment will be drafted on the due date that is printed on your monthly invoice. If the date falls on a weekend or holiday, the payment will be drafted the following business day. You can call our office and update your banking information or discontinue Auto-Pay at any time. If you would like to sign up for Auto-Pay, complete the auto-payment application form (see the link below) and return it to our office along with a voided check from your bank account. If you do not have checks for your account, a deposit slip with your routing number and account number will work. If you include your email address on the form, we will automatically sign you up for Ebilling, and you will receive a confirmation email that this service has been activated. Option Three: Credit Card Payments

Washington Water accepts payment using the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, Discover and Visa/MasterCard Debit. Payments can be made at “no charge” or over the phone for a fee of $1.25 per transaction. If you would like to make your payment on the phone, please call our customer service center at (877) 408-4060—or (888) 490-3741 for East Pierce customers—during normal operating hours.

Bank Payments via Bill Payer Services:

We also accept payment from bill payer services, such as those offered by your bank. Please be sure when you sign up for your bill payer service to include your correct account number. This will ensure that your payment is correctly applied to your account each month. If you are using a bill payer service through your bank, you are also eligible to receive your bill by email each month. To begin paperless billing, send an email to [email protected] advising us that you are using a bill payer service. Include your name, address, and account number, and we will email you when your account has been updated. Please note that Auto-Pay and recurring credit card payments are currently only available to customers who live on systems that are owned by Washington Water Service. If you are in a managed system, continue to make payments via check using the pre-addressed envelope included with your bill, or sign up for bill payer service through your bank. If you are unsure whether you are on an owned or managed system, please call our office for assistance toll-free at (877) 408-4060.

How can I tell if my toilet has a leak?

To find out if your toilet leaks, listen for the sound of running water. You can also place a few drops of food coloring in the tank. Don’t flush the toilet. If the coloring is seen in the bowl, the toilet is leaking.

How do I discontinue or transfer my service?

See the Start/Stop Service page for instructions.

How do I turn off the water supply to my house?

You can interrupt the flow of water to your home by turning off your house valve. House valves are usually located beneath a faucet outside the home, most typically near the faucet for the garden hose. (See the How to Shut Off Your Water page for more information.) If you cannot find your house valve, please call our Customer Service Center at our toll-free number for assistance.

Who is responsible for plumbing leaks?

The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission only authorizes Washington Water to take responsibility for the water system on the Company’s side of the meter. Customers are responsible for maintaining the plumbing on their side of the meter.

Who should I call in case of a water emergency?

In case of a water emergency, such as a water line break or broken fire hydrant, you can reach customer service toll-free, 24 hours a day, at (877) 408-4060. East Pierce (formerly Rainier View Water) customers can also call (888) 490-3741 during regular business hours.

What should I do if my bill seems high?

The most common reason for a high bill is a household leak. See our High Bills page for information on detecting leaks in your home, as well as water-saving tips that might lower your water bill.

If you need further, please Contact Us or call our 24-hour customer service number. We’re here to help.

How do I make payments?

Customers may send payments in the mail, pay online, sign up for Automatic Payment Service withdrawals, drop payments at designated pay stations and night boxes, or call Washington Water to pay by phone. For details, see the Pay Your Bill page.

What forms of payment are accepted?

Washington Water accepts the following forms of payment: cash, checks, money orders, credit card payments made over the phone, electronic payments made through banks or online services like those offered by Yahoo! and Microsoft, and payments made through Automatic Payment Service.

See the Pay Your Bill page for more information.
