Classic Heights: Addressing Claims by Salespeople That Water is Unsafe

Some Washington Water customers in Classic Heights have reported being visited by an individual or individuals claiming that the water is not safe to drink. Please be aware that these individuals are not Washington Water employees and are not affiliated with Washington Water. Any suggestion that the water being provided by Washington Water is unsafe is simply untrue. Our water is safe to use and drink as normal and meets all state and federal water quality standards.

It is our understanding that the individuals making this assertion are attempting to sell water filtration systems and related services to residents in the area by specifically referencing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2024 adoption of a new National Primary Drinking Water Regulation for certain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Water utilities with impacted water systems must comply with this new regulation by 2029.

Please be wary of salespeople using scare tactics to sell their products. The water we deliver complies with the previous action level set by the state, and we are prepared and well-positioned to meet the federal compliance requirements set by the EPA because of the work we have already done.

Remain vigilant about unknown individuals requesting access to your home. If you are ever unsure if an individual or company is affiliated with Washington Water, or if there are questions about the quality of the water we serve, please call your local office for verification. As always, your safety is our top priority.
