In accordance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations to identify and eliminate lead service lines nationwide, Washington Water classified customers’ water service lines as “status unknown” in our initial inventory (phase 1). During 2025 and early 2026, we completed our phase 2 inspections.
Phase 2 inspections included:
- Conducting a representative physical inventory of each Group A water system. Service line materials were visually identified on both the Washington Water side of the meter and on the customer’s side of the meter.
- We also identified homes constructed in 1987 or later. Homes constructed in this era were built after lead material was no longer allowed.
Protecting our customers’ health and safety is our highest priority. Washington Water is glad to inform all Group A water system customers that all service line materials have been identified as non-lead.
