Sehmel Drive NW–Swede Hill Treatment Project

Location: Sehmel Drive NW, Gig Harbor, between 64th Ave. NW and Bujacich Road NW

Current status: Completed January 2023

Washington Water Service has contracted Pape & Sons Construction to install 1,400 feet of new water main on our Quistorff Water System. Construction is slated to begin in early October and will be ongoing until mid-November. The construction will be within Pierce County Right-of-Ways and dedicated easements. All improvements will be at or below grade. These improvements will allow water from two sources to be blended together and improve water quality for the area.

You will notice construction noise in the work areas while crews are on site each day. Work will begin at 7:00am and should be wrapped up each day by 6:00pm, Monday through Thursday, barring any emergencies. Traffic control will be implemented to allow crews to safely work in the area. Emergency vehicle access will be provided throughout all phases of construction; however, residents should plan for extra time and pay attention to where crews are working to allow safe access into and out of driveways and intersections. Please avoid the work area when possible.

On Tuesday December 6, 2022, we will be finalizing the construction of the Swede Hill water main construction project. In order to tie-in the new construction to our existing infrastructure, a controlled shutdown of your service will be necessary. Work will begin at 9:00am, we are anticipating this shutdown to be no longer than six hours.
