The service replacement capital improvement program is required to address the large amount of distribution system water loss. A water service is the small diameter lateral that delivers water from the main within the street to your meter at the property frontage. The existing services have shown consistent evidence of leakage between the mainline piping and the meters.
Washington Water has embarked on a multi-phase project to replace services in an effort to decrease distribution system loss. The work will require water outages; notices will be delivered to those affected customers as the project progresses. Outages will occur on weekdays, between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. Chlorine will be used to sanitize all plumbing parts and materials.
Traffic control will be implemented to allow crews to safely work in the area. Emergency vehicle access will be provided throughout all phases of construction. However, residents should plan for extra time and pay attention to where crews are working to allow safe access into and out of driveways and intersections. Please avoid the work area when possible. Temporary chlorination will be removed when the project is complete.
